How to create social projects for change
Welcome to how to take a simple idea to a full fledged project. Our goal is to help you make your ambition a reality through our resources and experience. And hey, don't stress out yet, because this is easier than you think. In fact, creating a social project from scratch only takes five steps, and we'll walk you through each one. After acquainting yourself with our design process, you'll be able to tell us your ideas so we can follow through with you to make it a reality.
Step #1: The Spark
Start by listing out the top five problems that you care about the most, then take some time to brainstorm possible solutions to each of these problems. The more creative, the better; you'll have plenty of time to refine it later but this step should feel very loose and free.
Step #2: The Research
Ok great, so you've got some possible issues on hand to work with. Now, pick the top two or three issues you'd like to address and start looking into some specifics of these ideas. Check how feasible they are, whether it's the right fit for your community, and be on the look out for other organizations or people you could partner with later down the road. It might help to jot down a few notes too.
Step #3: The Plan
This is where it all comes together. It's time to narrow down your possibilities to one topic, and then roll with that. Elaborate on your previous idea, describe how you'll accomplish it, and name any organizations you'll need to work with to make your idea spring to life.
Step #4: The Refinement
Now that you have a concrete plan, it's time to run it by some people who you know will give you honest, constructive feedback. We recommend running it by at least two other people, their fresh ideas could really take your idea to the next level! This is also where you reach out to any collaborators, finalize event locations, or make sure your participation is where you want it to be!
Step #5: The Execution
This is when you get to enjoy yourself and watch the work you put in make a difference. Great job! The future looks bright.
As you can see, social change is a lot easier than you may have thought when you break it down. It just comes down to five steps, some planning, and the motivation to do what's right. And the Youngchange-Bestchange team will be with you every step of the way, coaching you and using our network to help your project ideas reach the next level. Continue on to let the team know some of your ideas so that we can follow up and assist with the rest of the five step process as well. You've already taken a huge step by familiarizing yourself with the design process; now it's time to take the next step and turn your ideas into action.
